Art of Authority - Lesson 1
The Authority Gap
The three authority signals, and why conviction needs an evidence layer under it
The 'invisible creator' is not someone who lacks ideas. They lack signal alignment. They post frequently, get occasional spikes, and can't explain why.
Across the corpus, only about one post in ten reaches the Exceptional band, and that rate stays roughly flat from creator to creator. The creators who compound separate themselves through structural consistency across three measurable authority signals, rather than through extra effort.
Volume without architecture is not a strategy. This lesson names the three signals and shows you how to combine them.
The 3 Authority Types
Expertise demonstrates mastery of a domain through frameworks, data, or tested methods.
Experience demonstrates credibility through lived results, outcomes, and career evidence.
Conviction demonstrates thought leadership through bold, defensible positions.
Why Conviction Needs an Evidence Layer
Expertise and Experience ground a post in evidence, and evidence is what turns a claim into authority the reader can trust.
Conviction is powerful on its own. It travels furthest in the feed, as the Proof Architecture lesson will show. But without the structural proof of expertise or experience underneath it, conviction reads as opinion rather than authority.
Elite posts don't just have good ideas. They have ideas backed by demonstrable proof: frameworks, data, outcomes, or lived results.
Building Your Authority Signal
The strongest posts combine two authority types: Expertise plus Experience, or Conviction plus Expertise.
Identify which authority type is most natural to you, then build the structural proof layer that lifts it from opinion to authority.
Authority is not claimed; it is demonstrated through the evidence layer embedded in every post.
